After 3.5 years of collaboration, innovation, and shared ambition, the RETROFIT55 journey has come to an end. Over the course of the project, partners from across Europe worked together to develop and demonstrate integrated retrofit solutions aimed at reducing fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions in waterborne transport. By combining innovative technologies – including wind-assisted propulsion, air lubrication systems, weather routing, ship electrification and smart energy management, and AI-powered decision support tools – RETROFIT55 has contributed to accelerating the decarbonization of the maritime sector.
