RETROFIT55 #horizoneurope project kicked off in Jan-2023 at the premises of CNR (Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche) in Rome, Italy. Partners representing various sectors of the European #maritime Industry were called on to develop an advanced web-based decision support system. This system would aid, among others, Ship Operators, Designers and Shipyards, to select the most suitable ship-specific green technologies that reduce fuel consumption and Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions. Among the different means to achieve the targets, the consortium will focus on solutions to improve the ship efficiency, including #airlubrication systems, Smart Energy Management, holistic Hydrodynamic and Operational optimization, as well as solutions to exploit renewables or zero- and low-emission energy sources, such as #windpropulsion, #fuelcells and #electrification of the propulsion system.
